A consumer finance company operating in Florida, the Caribbean and Panama

The new location, a former gas station, included an existing canopy, in keeping with the desired mid-century modern style, set on a busy corner location. This added the challenge of designing and constructing the new restaurant to fit within the limitations of the canopy and be recognizable and inviting from every angle.

A “facelift” for the façade inspired by French Neoclassical style. Originally constructed with wooden materials, exterior details had deteriorated in Florida’s weather. Damaged materials were removed and replaced with precast concrete ornamentation to match the existing elements and provide a grand, new façade.

Building on tradition - The owner had opened his first DQ in the mid-1940s when he returned from WW2. Over the years, that original location became a popular stop for locals and visitors in the area. Moving just across the street provided the opportunity for a larger restaurant and drive-through, with a distinctive landmark style.

Project Description

Rebecca Taylor is a womenswear brand inspired by beauty in the everyday. The Rebecca Taylor collection is available at Rebecca Taylor boutiques as well as high-end department and specialty stores worldwide.

Small structural revisions quickly led to a complete renovation of the interior as well as exterior of this Miami Beach landmark restaurant. The transformation included extensive millwork, relocation and expansion of the bar.

The interior, designed by Francois Frossard, includes modern décor with lilac & crystal chandeliers, hand-carved blonde wood and a 36-seat open bar.

The initial exterior revisions led to extensive renovations to the interior that transformed the building and delivered on the owner’s vision for reinventing the iconic venue.

In addition to the structural renovations, the other challenge was expanding interior spaces, and separating the restaurant and nightclub with separate entrances to each.
